Twenty-four properties in South Pool are now used on a part-time basis

1st May 2008

South Pool is becoming a second-home hotspot, according to figures from South Hams District Council (SHDC).

Around 30 per cent of the houses in the village are now second homes.

South Pool, with its picturesque views, commands some of the highest property prices in the area and is a magnet for wealthy individuals looking for a holiday home.

Twenty-four properties in South Pool are now used on a part-time basis.

And the knock-on affect of rising prices has caused heartbreak for local residents who have been priced out of the market.

This has led to growing fears that the community could die.
