The Millbrook Inn, nestled at the head of South Pool Creek, is one of those rare finds that you stumble over, quite by accident and then find it almost impossible to leave.

Likened to Munroe bagging or a ticket at the final night of the proms, visiting The Millbrook for many people has become an annual pilgramage spanning more than 50 years, and still counting!

Why does this tiny pub continue to attract so much attention ?...in truth I'm not entirely sure....Oh it has its charms....it's Aylesbury ducks splashing around in the brook behind the pub, the pontoon down the lane where "on the tide" you can join the flotilla of boats that religiously "Swallow and Amazon" their way up the South Pool Creek, to it's low beams, open fires, local real ales and ciders, friendly staff and a genuine locally sourced menu served by equally local and friendly staff.

Pubs like this are getting increasingly more difficult to find let alone stumble over.

Smoked Haddock risotto with crispy pancetta and a lightly poached Chantry egg - £12.00
Chargrilled 10oz aged sirloin steak, roast shallot confit, vine roast tomatoes and hand cut chips - £16.00

Location:
Nestled at the head of South Pool Creek, the pub is only 10 minutes by road from Kingsbridge and 20 minutes from Dartmouth.

But then there is always the creek! By boat South Pool is a lazy 15 minute journey from Salcombe. On a Spring tide the pontoon is accessible two hours either side of high tide, and one and a half hours either side on a neap tide, dependant on the draft of your boat.

By road… follow the A379 from Kingsbridge to Dartmouth, passing through East and West Charleton, and continuing onto Frogmore, turn right at the Frogmore Bridge, signposted South Pool, carry on this road until you enter South Pool, and the pub is in the centre of the village.
