The ninth annual South Pool Easter Saturday village day raised a whopping £2,600 for the village's church restoration.

Highlights of the day included a sponsored walk, lunch at The Millbrook Inn, live music by Hogwash, duck racing, luxury raffle, Easter Bonnet parade and a children's Easter egg hunt.

Church of St Cyriac and St Nicholas is in desperate need of rewiring and after this has been carried out it will also need to be decorated.

South Pool resident Elisabeth Bennett said: "Nine years ago the event started as a sponsored walk but when Foot and Mouth came to the countryside we had to rethink the day so duck racing and Easter Bonnets were introduced.

"Now they all take place on the same day providing a fun village day."
